The Overlanding Couple

Elisa & Michael

Welcome to Peamun — the overlanding couple blog where adventure meets the open road. We’re Elisa and Michael, two Germans who traded desk jobs for a life lived entirely out of our Land Rover Defender 110 TD5. If you’ve ever dreamed of leaving everything behind and exploring the world at your own pace, you’re in the right place.

We’ve known each other for over ten years, and camping was always our escape — weekends in the mountains, road trips across Europe, any excuse to sleep under the stars. Over time, weekend trips weren’t enough. The question stopped being “where should we go next?” and started being “why are we going back at all?” So we stopped going back.

As a full-time overlanding couple, we now spend our days chasing remote landscapes, unpaved roads, and the kind of sunsets that make you forget what day it is. We’ve crossed borders, gotten stuck in mud, fixed things with zip ties, and woken up to views that no hotel could ever offer. This is the life we chose — and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

About: loves DIY projects and to wake up next to the ocean every morning

Michael, 30, brings the engineering brain to the Peamun operation. With a background in software training and a love for DIY projects, he’s the one who designed and built Eddie’s entire interior from scratch — every shelf, every bracket, every cable run. When he’s not elbow-deep in the engine bay chasing another oil leak, you’ll find him waking up next to the ocean, chocolate milk in his hand, planning the next leg of the route.

About: Is there anything better then waking up in a cozy roof tent hearing all the birds singing?

Elisa, 29, studied environmental engineering and brings a deep appreciation for the natural world to every destination we visit. She’s the one who finds the hidden trails, the wild camping spots away from the crowds, and the perfect moment to just stop and listen. For Elisa, there’s nothing better than waking up in the roof tent to birdsong and knowing the whole day is wide open.

Our Land Rover Defender

Eddie is more than a vehicle — he’s the reason the Peamun adventure is possible at all. He’s a 2004 Land Rover Defender 110 TD5 with a 2500 cm³ engine, a cruising speed of 100 km/h, and an attitude that matches ours: go anywhere, fix anything, complain never.

Over two years of preparation, we stripped Eddie back to bare metal, removed rust, replaced worn parts, and built the complete interior ourselves from the ground up. Living and sleeping in the same vehicle demands clever use of every centimetre — so we designed everything with intention. The result is a compact, capable expedition setup that carries everything we need and nothing we don’t.

Every component on Eddie is repairable in the field, every system is something we understand and can troubleshoot. That’s not an accident — it’s a philosophy. When you’re far from the nearest town, you want to know your vehicle, not just drive it.
